I have tried using the X-Fi Support Pack 2.0 drivers as it states that it supports the OEM models from Dell, Lenovo etc. But I get terrible sound quality (clicks, hisses, pops and general distortion). The only drivers I have tried that give me good quality sound are the Vista drivers from the Lenovo site but then CMSS-3D does not work so I can not get surround sound when listening to music (I do get surround sound when watching TV or movies with 5.1 audio). Please can someone advise me as to the best driver pack to install for this card? Many thanks, Sim. I took a look at the uni drivers and they look very promising.
I've heard bad things about gx but it's eax emulation nonetheless. It's be cool to be able to have directional sound in older games. Also it'd be nice to have front panel switching but I don't switch between headphones and speakers daily. I don't mind sacrificing features rarely used for performance. What features do the dk drivers have over stock? Also I just noticed he has an optional download for the front panel stitcher but it sacrifices performance. He also updates openAL for newer games. I doubt I'll miss eax support; I doubt anyone does. Jpop Mp3 Album S there. Also I just did a little research and found that eax is run though openal or ds3d so there's no reason old games couldn't run it anyway. I think gx was just for hardware acceleration for eax which is a simple piece of software anyway (I can't imagine it using more than 1 mflop).

After some investigation, I’ve found an EAX5.0 check and patched it and it worked! Sometime later, they released the final version of ALchemy X-Fi and the paid version of ALchemy Audigy. I was realy mad at them, they didn’t release a new Audigy driver and were charging Audigy owners for a software that runs on top of bugged drivers? What is the point of that? Then I modified the X-Fi 'free' version of ALchemy, not the paid version. I did the same with the later versions, but when they released the 1.00.11, I couldn’t patch it anymore. So I bought it, just for the sake of it.
