Here's what I did: Open the game preferences file: Right click Rome: Total War in Steam >Properties >Local Files Tab >Browse Local Files >open preferences.txt Replace the resolution values: Replace all 4 mentions of resolution with your desktop resolution. (If you want to keep the 4:3 aspect ratio with black bars on the sides replace the width value with the height value multiplied by 1.333333. So if you're running at 1920x1080, for example, the resolution you would want is 1440x1080.) Then save the.txt file and relaunch the game.
Having issues, three years later lmao. I've done as follows but when I run it says 'Rome: Toal War failed to find Directx 9, which is required for the game to run.
