We recently bought Toshiba L750 Notebooks for our employees and installed Windows XP SP3 on it. Unfortunatly we have a problem with the sound card. We can't manage to make it work.
The sound card is not recognized. We installed the KB835221 and it does work.
For a short period of time. After the KB installation, Windows detect High definition audio devices. So we can install the drivers. Unfortunatly when we reboot the computer all that was done before the reboot is lost. So we have to reinstall the KB and do this all over again. I also noticed that the KB is not that much important.
The only thing you have to do to have Windows recognize your UAA Audio Devices is to Update your Windows UAA HD Audio component and install the same driver that is already installed. And it will let you install the drivers for your audio device. The device on this Laptop is 'Conexant SmartAudio HD' Do you guys have any idea how to make this work? Hi, I tried logging Off and the device is not removed. Only when the computer reboots.
When you have installed the drivers you do not have to reinstall them another time. The only step you have to do is to de-activate the Microsoft UAA HD Audio module and re-activate it and everything works again.
For the moment we made an autoIT executable that does the following command as administrator: devcon.exe restart 'PCI VEN_8086&DEV_1C20&SUBSYS_FC501179&REV_04' So we put this in the run section of the registry. So the Microsoft UAA module restart at every boot. Thats not a pretty way to fix things.
But it works. We are looking for a better way to fix this. Hi, I tried logging Off and the device is not removed. Only when the computer reboots. I have an HP Pavillion dv6140US laptop which has been problematic since day 1 regarding sound. This week I reverted back to XPPro from Vista, which included installing XPSP3. When I originally purchased the laptop I had no sound issues when I had XPSP1 or XPSP2. Problems started when I installed Vista and are continuing with XPSP3. My current thought is that this issue is related to the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) Bus Driver for High Definition Audio and is applicable to most XPSP3 systems. I have tried unsuccessfully to update the driver using multiple sources. The driver vesion can be found within your local Device Manager under System Devices (mine is dated 3/5/04 ver: 5.10.0.5010) I have unsuccessfully tried updating the driver via the following sources: •.
